It is soft in the mouth, balanced, excellent and distinctive with a slight heat. Clear and full-bodied taste of cereals and light hints of citrus. Good to mix with but also to drink on its own.
History
Absolut hit the market in 1979 when they began exporting vodka to the US. It was an instant success. Within 5 years, the brand was available in 18 countries and by 1985 it was the most imported vodka in the US.
The bottle's appearance is inspired by a 19th century pharmacy bottle. Many were skeptical of the design, but it was approved and triumphed.
Manufacturing
Absolut vodka is made in Åhus in southern Sweden. Every drop of Absolut that is made comes from there and is made according to a “one source concept”: there is a distillery, a large wheat field and a water well. Vodka that is not made with raw materials from these places may not be called Absolut. The manufacturing process has not changed in 125 years and part of it is the revolutionary continuous distillation technology invented by LO Smith.
Another part of the pursuit of the perfect product is that each bottle is washed with Absolut vodka to ensure that no other foreign particles are present in the bottle when it is filled.
